City of Lacey seeks applicants for Historical Commission seat

Posted

The City of Lacey is recruiting for one open seat on its Historical Commission.

To be eligible, applicants must reside within the Lacey City Limits or the Urban Growth Area. The unexpired term runs through Sept. 13, 2027.

The Historical Commission provides leadership in raising awareness of Lacey's history and preservation of local historic resources. It guides the creation of public education and interpretive programs, encourages preservation of items and properties of historical significance, and reviews nominations to the Lacey Register of Historic Places.

To help more residents get involved, the city offers a $50 stipend per meeting, up to $500 per year. The benefit is aimed to offset expenses, such as child care coverage during meetings, transportation, internet access, and other financial impacts to help reduce barriers to participation in government and increase representation.

To apply, head to the city's online application portal. The first round of reviews will take place within 30 days.

People with questions may contact the City Clerk's Office at (360) 491-3214 or email CityClerk@CityofLacey.org.
