The Tumwater City Council adopted an ordinance annexing 11.8 acres of land within the city's urban growth area at a meeting on Tuesday, March 17.
The land consists of two parcels at 93rd Avenue and Case Road near southern city limits.
Associate Planner Dana Bowers told the council the land is currently zoned for light industrial use and is mostly undeveloped, containing only one house and accessory outbuildings.
Bowers added that the annexation was petitioned by two property owners who have agreed to the terms for annexation.
The requirements include adhering to the city’s zoning regulations and assuming a proportional share of the city’s existing bonded indebtedness.
The council’s approval marks the conclusion of a process that began in February 2025, when the city received the request for annexation.
The process involved a public hearing in August 2025 and a review by the Thurston County Boundary Review Board, which approved the request in January 2026.

Ugh. We don't need to replace every amount of green space with concrete.
