City of Lacey launches Community and Cultural Events Grant pilot program

Posted

Nonprofit organizations hoping to bring residents of Lacey together through free public events can now apply for local funding.

The City of Lacey opened applications for its Community and Cultural Events Grant pilot program, which supports free, community-driven public events held within city limits or its Urban Growth Area. Applications are due on Friday, Feb. 27.

The Lacey Commission on Equity developed the program, and the city is accepting applications for the first time this year, said Assistant City Manager Shannon Kelley-Fong at a Human Services Commission meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Grant awards, which range from $500 to $5,000, are issued on a reimbursements basis for eligible expenses.

Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations registered with the Washington Secretary of State. Groups working under a fiscal sponsor are also eligible. Each organization may submit one application per funding cycle.

Proposed events must align with Lacey City Council priorities, foster welcoming and inclusive environments, and serve the city’s diverse communities.

Covered expenses include venue rentals, permits, performers, marketing materials, food, equipment and staffing costs. Grant funds may not be used for alcohol, drugs, or religious or political promotion.

City staffers will conduct an initial eligibility review before forwarding applications to the Commission on Equity for recommendations. Final funding decisions will be made by the city council.

Program details and application materials are available on the City of Lacey website.
