It’s looking like a wet start to the new year with rain in the Thurston County forecast over the next several days. But New Year’s Eve revelers are in luck, as there is no rain in sight on Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service Office in Seattle outlook calls for dense fog on New Year’s Eve and widespread frost with an overnight low around 32 degrees and a calm wind.
There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation on New Year’s Day, with rain likely after 4 p.m. New precipitation of less than one-tenth of an inch is possible. The daytime high should be near 43 degrees with patchy, dense fog between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The chance of precipitation climbs to 80 percent on Thursday evening, with new rainfall amounts between one-quarter and one-half inch possible. The overnight low should be around 39 degrees with a calm wind.
Rain is likely on Friday, Jan. 2, with a 90 percent chance and new precipitation amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter inch possible. The daytime high should be near 51 degrees with a south wind of 3 to 6 miles per hour.
The chance of precipitation is 80 percent on Friday evening, with new rainfall amounts of less than one-tenth of an inch possible. Rain is also in the forecast on Saturday, Jan. 3, Sunday, Jan. 4, and Monday, Jan. 5. Forecasts are subject to change.
