A cold front passing through the Pacific Northwest is expected to produce chilly, wet and windy conditions over the next couple of days in Thurston County.
The National Weather Service Office (NWS) in Seattle forecast calls for rain, possibly mixed with snow before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, then rain. The daytime high should be near 43 degrees with a south wind of 6 to 14 miles per hour (mph) and gusts as high as 21 mph.
Wind chill values are estimated between 25 and 35 degrees. The wind chill temperature is how cold people feel when they are outside.
The overnight low should be around 37 degrees with a south, southwest wind of 7 to 9 mph. There is a 100 percent chance of precipitation with new rainfall amounts between one-quarter and one-half inch possible.
“The cold front passing through the Pacific Northwest/northern Rockies will bring much colder temperatures to the north, with highs mainly in the 30s and 40s,” said the NWS Weather Prediction Center in College Park, Maryland, in a short range forecast on Monday, March 9.
There is also a 100 percent chance of rain on Wednesday, March 11, with new precipitation amounts between 1 inch and 2 inches possible. The daytime high should be near 50 degrees with a south 6 to 11 mph, possibly increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
The overnight low should be around 41 degrees with breezy conditions. There is a 100 percent chance of precipitation.
Rain is also in the forecast throughout the remainder of the penultimate week of winter. Forecasts are subject to change.
