A short stretch of Columbia Street in downtown Olympia is going to be closed later this week for asphalt work.
Columbia Street, between 5th Avenue and 7th Avenue, will be cut off to thur traffic on Sunday, April 19, from 7 a.m. to noon.
The same strech of the street will aslo be closed on Monday, April 20, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
"City crews will be performing asphalt work in the crosswalks on both sides of the intersection at Legion Way. Businesses will continue operating under normal hours during construction," said the City of Olympia in a construction and traffic alert.
Detours will be in place. Motorists are encouraged to follow alternate routes and obey all traffic control in place.

The city needs to repave the WHOLE downtown core. It’s an uneven bumpy mess that’s too hard on my suspension!
