A convicted felon was arrested shortly after a 9mm handgun was stolen from a firearms store and later recovered near North Thurston High School.
An Olympia Police Department report states that Jaden Blaize Toussaint, 25, of Tumwater, entered Private Sector Arms on Martin Way East around 1:20 p.m. on Sept. 10.
He then asked to see a 9mm handgun. After being handed the firearm under standard procedures, the suspect reportedly ran out of the store with the weapon.
A store staff member, who was armed, followed the suspect as he fled toward Sleater Kinney Road NE. The pursuit continued in the direction of North Thurston High School, prompting dispatch to seek assistance from the Lacey Police Department to secure and lockdown the school. Nearby schools were briefly placed under lockdown, as officers searched for the suspect.
Police located the suspect within minutes near the intersection of Sleater Kinney Road and 6th Avenue NE. He was taken into custody without further incident. The stolen 9mm handgun was recovered.
Authorities confirmed Toussaint is a felon having been convicted of “Assault 2nd (Strangulation), Robbery and Criminal Mischief w/a Deadly Weapon." Toussaint also has two no-contact orders on file and is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Toussaint was booked into Thurston County Corrections Facility on charges of theft of a firearm and three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Police returned the firearm to the store.

Truly amazing. Toussaint appeared before Judge Zipp on 9/17, according to court records, and didn't get immediately released into the community. Is she turning over another leaf in regards to her soft on crime Democrat values??!!

It is time to list the names, the string of violations, and the penalty---prison for many years is appropriate.
Repeat offenses is not addressing the issue. Please list the names, the violations, and the "decisions" it is time to track both who the peat offenders are. We need to stop letting the local criminals from "messing up accountability at the local level.
Yes, some of our local "woke voices " and MAGA mess up the accountability. Don't assume your voice represents the local majority. We need honesty and fairness. We don't currently have it from either side

First, a big thank you to the Private Arms employee who followed this criminal. He deserves a bonus for risking his life in chasing this guy down so the police could arrest him. There should be a microscopic review of the reason this felon was out on the street. The judge and attorneys who have been involved in this criminals past cases should be taken to task if they have been involved with letting this guy off too easy. The likely scenario is that a plea agreement was made and he was released on his own recognizance. The plea deal system is how things really work, not following the law. That needs to change and begins and ends with judges. Putting judges in that will uphold the laws, hold people accountable, and get criminals off the streets should be a priority, but they are often appointed by liberal governors like Jay Inslee and now Bob Ferguson. Voters need to understand this in order to make their cities safer. Start connecting the dots and elect political leaders with track records of strict criminal prosecution as a priority part of their platform, regardless of party affiliation. Anything else will reinforce the Wild West culture that has taken over our streets, as this example demonstrates.

He's lucky he wasn't shot. Well, it would have been better for us citizens, but there you have it.
You have to wonder about the intelligence level of criminals like this. Go into a gun shop and steal a gun. Every single one of the people behind the counter is armed and trained in handling a handgun. The thief wasn't shot for theft due to the fact that the employee who chased him...with a gun...knew he'd never get away with shooting a thief who was running away. Had the thief instead pointed it at the employee, things may have turned out the way it did in Spanaway years ago.
A thief walked into the gun shop..the name escapes me but I think it was the Bullseye..a thief walked in, asked to handle a Ruger Redhawk .44 caliber revolver. The gun was handed to him, he pulled a speed loader out of his pocket, loaded the gun and pointed it at teh employees.
He was shot four times, dead before he hit the floor. No charges were leveled against the employees and they didn't deserve them.
YOu can't even ask DUH WHAT WERE YOU THINKING. I guess he thought he was being clever.
