A Thurston County corrections deputy was arrested and immediately terminated from his job after he allegedly solicited sex via email from an inmate’s visitor at the Thurston County Jail, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

The unnamed corrections deputy was arrested in the 8200 block of Quinalt Drive on Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Office said that it received a complaint from an inmate’s female partner on March 31.

The woman said she received solicitations for sex from an encrypted email which the Sheriff’s office said contained information available only to someone who had access to the jail visitation and messaging system.

With the woman’s permission, detectives used her email to reach out to the suspect and set up a time and place to supposedly meet up and exchange money for sex.

On the night of April 21, detectives arrived at the location and identified the suspect as a corrections deputy who was hired in December 2021.

The deputy was terminated from his employment and booked into the Thurston County Jail for first-degree computer trespassing and patronizing a prostitute.

The Sheriff’s Office said no further information will be released at this time as the case remains under investigation.
