A man and woman were arrested at Kohl's on Sleater Kinney Road SE in Lacey after they allegedly attempted to purchase merchandise with a stolen credit card.
According to a Lacey Police Department report, store loss prevention staff reported that a man and woman were filling a cart with merchandise and acting suspiciously on Aug. 9.
“The two subjects entered the store and immediately started grabbing random merchandise and seeming to not care what they selected,” a responding officer stated in the report.
Store staff informed police officers that the couple attempted to purchase $844 worth of merchandise with a Kohl’s credit card, but it was declined as they were not able to show proper identification.
Officers identified the man as Sean Hill, 34, who had a felony warrant out of Kitsap County for identity theft. No residence was listed for Hill in the report.
The woman, identified as Carlie Ryann Hoover, 29, of Lacey, had a felony warrant from Pierce County for possession of a stolen vehicle.
When authorities detained the pair, Hill was found with a wallet containing multiple IDs, including a fake driver’s license, as well as a Kohl’s credit card belonging to a theft victim.
Investigators also recovered a stolen Chevy Silverado tied to the case, along with stolen tools, mail and documents with different names on them.
Police said evidence linked both Hill and Hoover to possession of stolen property and fraudulent identification.
Hill was booked on charges of second-degree theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and an outstanding warrant. Hoover was booked on her warrant and referred for additional charges related to the stolen vehicle. Both individuals were transported to Thurston County Corrections Facility.

Wanna reduce this kinda crime, but are unwilling to make the sweeping societal change that would keep people from resorting to lawlessness? Lower sentencing guidelines for bank robbery. Seriously.
