Deputies arrest DUI suspect with history of eluding police

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies found themselves in pursuit of a vehicle that failed to yield during a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Homann Drive and Lacey Boulevard last December 3.

In a social media post, TCSO reported that deputies initially attempted to pull over the vehicle for lane travel and other traffic violations.

However, the driver ignored the signal to stop, veering through the grass and “intentionally” striking the gate at Lacey Elementary School, giving  deputies established reasonable suspicion for driving under the influence, prompting the authorization of a pursuit.

During the chase, speeds reached 60 to 70 mph as the vehicle navigated through the streets until the driver turned right from College Street onto Martin Way E, where the vehicle lost control and collided with the curb.

In the post TCSO also mentioned that this incident wasn't the driver’s first encounter with authorities.

Earlier that night, Olympia Police Department attempted to stop the same vehicle for lane travel violations, but the driver managed to flee from the scene.

In late December of last year, the same suspect and car were involved in another pursuit with Lacey Police Department where the driver also fled

The suspect is booked on charges of attempting to elude a police vehicle and driving under the influence.

“The driver was processed for DUI and will be booked for DUI and eluding. She will also be booked on OPD and Lacey PD prior eluding charges,” TCSO stated.
