Deschutes River flooding near town of Rainier expected

At 11:45 a.m. the river was 15" below flood levels

Flood Warning issued January 6 at 1:02PM PST until January 7 at 5:22PM PST by NWS Seattle WA

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Deschutes River Near Rainier.

* WHEN...From this evening to tomorrow afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, the Deschutes River will flood downstream in Tumwater Valley including the golf course.  Minor flooding will also occur in several residential areas, mainly Cougar Mountain and Driftwood Valley. Many roads and farm lands will also be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- At 11:45 AM PST Thursday the stage was 9.1 feet.

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this evening to a crest of 11.4 feet late tonight. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow morning.

- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of

11.3 feet on 01/26/1971.
