A lone burglar smashed the front door glass at Olympia Gear Exchange last night, entered the store and stole $173, according to owner Joe Hyer.

Security camera video shows an individual wearing a black face mask under a red stocking cap, walking back and forth along Fourth Ave. starting at 1:57 am. The break-in started at 2:14 am and the individual left the premises at 2:22 am.

The store sells new and consignment recreational clothing and gear.

Hyer told The JOLT that the burglar took only cash. “He didn’t take any of the gear – no socks, no jackets, no other merchandise," Hyer said. "That means it was probably not a homeless person, because they’d need the gear.”

Multiple cameras recorded the entire episode from different angles.

Hyer did not learn about the break-in until 9:30 am when a neighboring business owner contacted him.
