TRAFFIC AND NOISE

Drilling to occur along Deschutes Parkway underway, expect traffic detours, significant noise

Posted

Starting Monday, March 18, the final stage of a geotechnical survey is set to take place, involving drilling into the ground to collect samples along Deschutes Parkway near the 5th Avenue Dam.

Visitors to the area should be prepared for the presence of large machinery, trucks, and crews as they do their work.

The drilling process is expected to generate significant noise. A portion of the pedestrian walking path will be temporarily closed for safety reasons, with marked detours for pedestrians to follow.

This fieldwork is part of the Deschutes Estuary Restoration Project, aiming to provide information on the composition of the ground surrounding Capitol Lake.

The data collected will be the basis for the area's initial bridge, roadway, and boardwalk development phases.

The drilling operations will occur on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Monday, March 18, until Friday, March 22.
