On Wednesday night, April 3, a residential neighborhood off of College Street in Lacey was disturbed as a family became victims of a drive-by shooting.

According to the Lacey Police Department (LPD) news release, officers and detectives responded to the call in a residence in the 4600 block of Belair Drive SE around nine in the evening.

A single bullet penetrated the walls of their home, entering the bathroom where a child was bathing.

The child sustained minor injuries from shattered tiles. However, the family's dog was struck by the bullet, necessitating immediate surgery, and is now expected to recover fully.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing an unidentified vehicle fleeing the scene at the time of the shooting.

The motive behind this incident remains unclear.
