A 28-year-old woman was arrested following a late night car crash on Pacific Avenue SE that seriously injured one of the passengers in the vehicle.
A report from the Thurston County Sheriff's Office stated a black Tesla was allegedly speeding along Carpenter Road SE around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16.
The vehicle ran a red light before turning onto Pacific Avenue SE, where it later struck green electrical boxes and went off the road.
Four passengers were inside the car. One of the passengers suffered a serious arm injury and was taken for treatment to Multicare Capital Medical Center in Olympia.
Sheriff's office deputies confirmed that Alexus Nashae Baker, of Puyallup, was the driver of the Tesla.
She told deputies that her driver’s license was being mailed to her, but records showed that her driver’s license was suspended.
When asked about how she crashed the vehicle, Baker stated in the report that “her window tint was too dark, she had on dark sunglasses and she was changing the song from her phone.”
The driver was complaining of pain in her left shoulder and was taken to Capital Medical Center for treatment.
Once Baker was released from the medical center, she was booked into the Thurston County Corrections Facility on suspicion of vehicular assault, reckless driving, second-degree driving while license suspended and operating a vehicle while license suspended.
