A routine traffic stop in Thurston County in the early morning hours of August 3 led to the arrest of a driver on drug-related charges.

Olympia Police Department (OPD) reported that at around 2:30 a.m., OPD officers pulled over a vehicle after noticing that the driver failed to use turn signals.

During the stop, officers spotted a firearm tucked between the driver’s seat and the center console.

The driver, identified as Brian Alexander Gonzalez-Correa,  had a valid concealed pistol license and confirmed that the firearm was registered in his name.

As officers continued their investigation, they noticed a plastic bag on the vehicle’s floor containing several smaller plastic bags.

When questioned, police say Gonzalez-Correa denied having any illegal items in the car but permitted officers to search the vehicle.

“Officers located multiple small plastic bags containing a total of 13.15 grams of cocaine, $360 in cash, two phones and additional empty small plastic baggies,” OPD stated in the post.

The driver was subsequently arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail, facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, with an additional charge due to being armed with a deadly weapon.
