Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), Tenino Police Department, Washington State Patrol, South Thurston Fire & EMS, and East Olympia Fire District 6 responded to the scene of a serious head-on collision in the vicinity of Old Highway 99, just north of Tenino late in the evening on March 29.

The collision happened when a driver crossed the centerline and collided head-on with another vehicle.

The impact of the collision led to the occupant from the second vehicle having to be cut out of the vehicle; they were immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Authorities brought in a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), and it was determined that the driver was under the influence of substances to the extent that the driver was incapable of evaluation or interrogation.

Authorities secured a search warrant for the driver's blood for testing.

Following the blood draw, the suspect was transported to Thurston County Jail and booked on charges of vehicular assault.
