Dry conditions creating an early fire hazard Red Flag Warning through Tuesday evening

National Weather Service warns about high fire risks

Posted

For those planning to go and enjoy an outing in the warm and not humid days that are happening now. These conditions have caused an early red flag warning and special weather statement about fire safety risks affecting the areas surrounding Olympia and the Central Cascades.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the dry and unstable conditions in effect until the end of Tuesday for the area of the West Slopes of the Central Cascades, generally above 1500 feet.

A Special Weather Statement was issued for Olympia and surrounding areas of elevated fire weather conditions. Breezy north winds that will continue into Tuesday and low humidity come together to produce an environment that favors fires starting and spreading.
