The City of Tumwater’s 29th annual Easter Egg Dash is taking place at Tumwater High School District Stadium on Saturday, April 4.
The free annual event will feature a dash for youths with intellectual and developmental disabilities and higher support needs through a partnership with Thurston County Special Olympics.
“Over 20,000 colorful eggs filled with candy, toys, and prize coupons will be nestled in the large grassy area behind the stadium at Tumwater High School, waiting to be discovered. Bring a basket or bag to carry home all your treasures,” said the city in an announcement about the event.
Activity and food booths will be available on the day of the event, including Travelin’ Tom’s coffee truck. Attendees can also take a photo with the Easter bunny.
The “dash” part of the event, when children rush to collect Easter eggs, will be divided into different time slots per category.
Additional questions may be directed to Tumwater Parks & Recreation Department staffers at 360-754-4160.
Part of the annual egg dash is "Where’s the Peep?" — a virtual treasure hunt held on social media a week before the main event.
Participants will use picture “clues” to guess the location of the “peep” hidden around the city, and have a shot at winning prizes from sponsors.
The contest runs through April 3. Follow the City of Tumwater on Facebook for updates.
