Ellsworth “Nat” Unwin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend departed this life on March 7, 2025, at age 95. Born to Edwin and Mary Unwin in Centralia, Washington on September 8, 1929, he spent his formative years in Bucoda, Washington, where he cultivated lifelong friendships.

Nat was a standout baseball player in high school and junior college, earning All State honors as a senior. Later, after starting a family, he took up Fastpitch where he was an outstanding player for the State Champion Olympia Brewers and other local teams.

Nat first met his future wife, Donna Faye Anderson in 8th grade. They were married on June 21, 1951, and were strongly devoted to each other for 58 years. They shared a lifetime raising a family, construction projects, travel and adventure. Donna Faye passed in 2009 and Nat filled his time woodworking, maintaining an impeccable landscape and reestablishing old friendships. He was a regular with his coffee group.

In 1951, Nat was drafted into the Army, serving his country with distinction in the Korean War. He rose to the rank of Sergeant before being discharged in 1954. Following his military service, he embarked on a career, working at Mount Rainier Ordinance before spending nearly two decades at the Olympia Brewery, from which he retired in 1985. Throughout his career, he was known for his sense of humor, firm handshake and quick smile.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son Lyle Unwin (Diane) and daughter Rhonda Stolz (David). Grandchildren, Angela Stolz, Jason Stolz and special niece, Aletha Clark.
