The Energize Thurston program has officially closed after pushing the region toward energy efficiency for months.
However, federal incentives are still available for local homeowners who want to take advantage of affordable clean energy upgrades.
Launched as a regional collaboration, Energize Thurston helped residents across the county access discounted heat pump and heat pump water heater retrofits. In total, 192 upgrades were completed through the program, including 52 in Olympia.
In a statement issued by the City of Olympia, the improvements are "projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 1,600 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent over the next 15 years, while making homes more comfortable and affordable to heat and cool."
Although Energize Thurston is over, homeowners can still make clean energy upgrades with the help of federal tax credits.
These federal credits cover a broad range of energy-efficient improvements, including electric vehicle (EV) purchases, EV charging installations, heat pumps, insulation, solar panels and battery storage.
Here are some of the available programs:

As a participant of Energize Thurston, I applaud the program and hope it returns to further help negate more greenhouse emissions and help homeowners get new heat pumps that are less costly to operate. Plus, I’m no longer using natural gas, which is isn’t a renewable energy. , so it’s a win-win.

Don't ask what Olympia's climate program spent to get fifty-two upgrades. Grifters will grift.
