Rainy weekend ahead in Thurston County

The final weekend of the year is shaping up to be a wet one with rain likely on both days in Thurston County.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for up to one-quarter inch of rain on Saturday, Dec. 28, with a 90 percent chance of precipitation, mainly before 4 p.m. The high should be near 50 degrees with a south, southwest wind of 13 to 15 miles per hour (mph). Wind gusts could be as high as 23 mph.

The outlook is not much brighter on Saturday evening with an 80 percent chance of rain and precipitation likely after 10 p.m. The low should be around 40 degrees with a south wind of about 6 mph.

The chance of rain improves to 100 percent on Sunday, Dec. 29, with up to one-quarter inch possible. The high should be near 45 degrees with a southwest wind of 6 to 11 mph in the morning.

There is an 80 percent chance of rain on Sunday evening with less than one-tenth of an inch possible. The low should be around 38 degrees.

Showers are likely on Monday, Dec. 30, mainly before 4 p.m. with a high near 46 degrees and mostly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of showers on Monday evening with a low around 36 degrees.

The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and a high near 44 degrees. There is a chance of rain on New Year’s Eve with a low around 38 degrees.
