Ezra Jakob Newton didn’t want to be born on Christmas, so he waited until about 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to start his journey into the world.

Born at Capital Multicare Medical Center at 3:25 a.m. on Saturday, little Ezra was due on Dec. 25. So he was a week overdue. “That’s okay. I prefer New Year’s Day over Christmas for his birthday,” his mother, Kathrine Newton, told The JOLT.

He joins his parents, Kathrine and Adam Newton, and big brother and sister at their home in the Olympia area. Weighing 9 lbs, 4 oz. at birth, Ezra is their biggest baby yet, and is 21.5” tall.
