Four DUI arrests made within hours starting Saturday night

Two involved high-speed pursuit

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and Washington State Patrol made four separate DUI-related arrests just hours apart over the weekend, with one vehicle found to have suspected narcotics on the floorboard.

The first incident occurred at 10:39 p.m. on Saturday, when Sheriff’s deputies arrested an intoxicated driver on 183rd Avenue SW and Case Road SW.

Just one minute later, deputies assisted state troopers in pursuing a DUI suspect.

The suspect tried to flee, but a deputy managed to spike (using a tire deflation device) the vehicle on southbound I-5, forcing the driver to surrender near Milepost 94. Pills — suspected to be narcotics — were also found on the vehicle’s floorboard, the TCSO said.

State troopers arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI and eluding police.

At 1:01 a.m. on Sunday, the TCSO assisted the State Patrol with another pursuit of a DUI suspect running at 125 mph on northbound I-5.

The vehicle was spiked at Exit 120. State troopers arrested one suspect.

A Sheriff’s deputy was also rear-ended by a DUI suspect on I-5, but was not seriously hurt.

“Glad to hear our deputy is ok,” Sheriff Derek Sanders said on Facebook. “This isn’t the first time TCSO has been rear ended by drunk drivers, and I’m always worrying about the safety of our WSP partners who primarily work on the freeways.”

An hour and a half later, a deputy arrested a DUI suspect at Exit 105 of southbound I-5 after noticing them switching lanes “severely.” A can of Coors Light fell out the door when the driver exited the vehicle, the TCSO said.

Any bets they're back on the streets? How many DUI's does the state allow before FINALLY putting these jokers behind bars and taking away their vehicles? How many? A LOT.
