Thurston County Solid Waste is hosting a free compost giveaway event for county residents on Saturday, May 4. Community members are welcome to self-load up to one half cubic yard of compost from the Hawks Prairie Park & Ride at 2548 Hogum Bay Rd NE in Lacey between 11:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please bring a shovel and be prepared to load your material into your vehicle.
This event is in partnership with Brady Trucking, Intercity Transit, and the Master Recycler Composter Program of Thurston County. Pre-registration is required by completing the form at http://community.thurstonsolidwaste.org or by calling 360-867-2491.
Compost offered at this event started as food and yard waste from residents and businesses in Thurston County. It was then processed into a finished compost product by Brady Trucking in Shelton, WA, which is generously donating it to help celebrate Earth Day (April 22) and International Compost Awareness Week (May 5-11).
