A person of interest has been identified in the case of a Tenino woman, who was reported missing on Friday, April 4.
Marcia Norman, 82, vanished earlier this month from her residence near McIntosh Lake.
“Her family stated they have not heard from her since April 1st, and both of her vehicles remained parked at her residence,” the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said in an update on the case.
“Deputies responded to the home and discovered suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance. The condition of the house suggested Marcia may have left abruptly — household tasks such as dishes appeared to have been left mid-process.”
Detectives were subsequently called in to investigate.
“Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Marcia had dinner on the evening of April 1st with her handyman, Jeffrey Zizz, who was later contacted as part of the investigation,” the sheriff’s office said.
“He is believed to be the last person to have seen her. Detectives have spoken with Jeffrey multiple times and seized items of interest; however, at this time, there is no probable cause for an arrest related to Marcia’s disappearance.”
At some point in the past few days Zizz apparently used a friend’s vehicle to vacate the area, only to be located and arrested in Missoula, Montana, on a recently entered and unrelated warrant.
He is considered a person of interest in the missing person’s case. His vehicle was also seized as part of the investigation.
Anyone who has had recent contact with Zizz, or information that could help with the investigation, is asked to get in touch with the sheriff’s office detective division at detectives@co.thurston.wa.us or call 360-786-5530.

Such a sad story. Having helped elders in my "much" younger days, I know how hard it is for many to maintain a home when alone. It is now quite apparent that there was likely a dispute over payment that did not end well or simply the handyman thinking the lady had a lot more to give...
The need for this kind of in home maintenance and repair for the elderly will only grow and an affordable reliable and safe option needs to exist. Maybe its because I am old and soon to have a major loss of income but I simply don't understand how its acceptable to abandon the elderly when the need for support is the greatest.

Why was she having dinner with her handyman? It's bad enough letting strangers into your home to work. Maintain a professional relationship and make sure to let someone know they're going to be there. Don't socialize with the help!
