High-speed crash destroys vehicle and power pole on Maytown Road in Thurston County

Posted
A motorist destroyed a vehicle when it collided with a power pole in a high-speed crash on Maytown Road in Thurston County on Monday, June 23.

The force of the crash split what appeared to be an American-made, high performance vehicle. The vehicle was headed westbound on Maytown Road at the time it hit and leveled the power pole.

"Remarkably, the driver was able to get out on their own and is currently being treated for minor injuries at St. Peter’s Hospital (in Olympia). The driver will be booked for DUI (driving under the influence)," the Thurston County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post on Monday afternoon that drew dozens of responses from readers.

"The vehicle’s speedometer was stuck at 100 mph.
Please expect extended road closures or delays while crews work to replace the damaged power pole."

No further details were available as of publication time.
