High-speed pursuit ends with driver in custody

A high-speed pursuit that topped speeds over 150 miles per hour ended with a driver going to jail and a car getting impounded.

The purusit started shortly after a Thurston County Sheriff's Office sergeant spotted a BMW allegedly being driven in a reckless manner on Monday night, Feb. 2.

"When the (sergeant) attempted to stop the car, it ran a red light and fled at speeds over 150 mph as the (sergeant) began to lose sight of the car," said Sheriff Derek Sanders in a social media post.

But the pursuit changed course when a deputy, who had earlier deployed a Grappler in a different chase, was able to spike the BMW on Interstate 5 (I-5).

"The deputy did so without spiking any other cars on (I-5) or pursuing units. The driver came to a stop and surrendered before being taken into custody," said Sanders in the social media post.

The unidentified motorist, who had a suspended driver's license, was later booked into Thurston County Corrections Facility. The BMW was impounded.

And let me guess....the car was stolen. If so, now the poor owner has a damaged car that most likely will be impounded until the dipweed thief is sentenced..if he gets any time at all. BMW repairs aren't cheap.
