People are encouraged to visit the WET Science Center in March, as LOTT Clean Water Alliance educators share knowledge about wildlife tracking, volcanos, watersheds, wastewater and mosses.
Event attendees will learn about the state’s active volcanos, explore how watersheds connect communities, learn about the wastewater treatment process, and discover the diversity of mosses, a LOTT news release stated.
“Our March programs explore what amazing things are all around us if we take the time to look, from identifying the subtle signs of wildlife in their habitat to the peculiar ways of mosses, the oldest plants on earth, to how water connects us all,” shared LOTT Education Program Manager Siri Nelson in the news release.
On March 1, the center will have “Wildlife Tracking,” wherein visiting educators from Firecraft Northwest will teach attendees all about tracking signs of wildlife, such as scratch marks on a tree, footprints in the mud or even scat.
March 8 features “Magma-nificent Volcanos,” where attendees learn about Washington’s five active volcanoes, all of which have erupted in the past 200 years.
On March 15, with “Watershed Connections” attendees will discover more knowledge about people and nature’s connectivity, through interactive activities and crafts.
The center will feature “Wastewater Games” on March 22, highlighting a collection of various games and learning about water. Games include tossing trash where it belongs, placing cards to treat wastewater, racing to save water and other games.
Lastly, attendees will learn about “Marvelous Mosses” on March 29, and how they are not just wet carpet covering trees and brick walls, but there’s more than what meets the eye.
Each event involves hands-on activities and crafts during the identified schedule.
