Roadwork scheduled in downtown Olympia

Posted

Some streets in downtown Olympia are in line for some roadwork this week.

A City of Olympia contractor is going to install pavement surface seal coat and new bike corridor pavement markings on Eastside Street from 12th Avenue to Wheeler Avenue, as well as 10th Avenue at Adams Street.

The work, which will be performed during daylight hours, was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

"Travelers can expect lane restrictions and traffic delays and should choose an alternate route if possible," said the City of Olympia Public Works Department in a construction and traffic alert.

"Flaggers will direct motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists through the construction areas. Access to driveways may be temporarily disrupted during the pavement seal coating and marking process."

The project is one of several underway as summer winds down. That includes utility installation work near Cooper Point Road and Capital Mall Drive in Olympia, as well as street paving work on the north end of Adams Street between Union Avenue and 11th Avenue.
