Two individuals were arrested after an alleged theft at WinCo Foods on Martin Way East in Lacey.

According to a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to a call about suspected shoplifting at the store around 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Store employees reported said two individuals, later identified as Tyler D. Dickman, 35, of Tumwater, and Angelina E. Vantiem, 27, of Chehalis, were attempting to leave with unpaid merchandise.

Staff attempted to detain the pair, but they were able to flee after the female suspect allegedly bit one of the staff and the male suspect pushed staff away.

Deputies located the vehicle used by the suspects, a silver 2013 Dodge Journey, shortly after it left the store parking lot. The vehicle was stopped nearby, and the two occupants, Dickman and Vantiem were taken into custody.

A search warrant was later obtained for the vehicle. Deputies recovered a backpack that contained the stolen merchandise, which included small household items and cosmetics. The items were returned to the store.

Deputies also looked for a case containing suspected fentanyl along with drug paraphernalia after Vantiem apparently confessed to possessing these items.

Angelina stated that she had fentanyl in a pink case on the dashboard of the vehicle and methamphetamine in a black backpack and all of the narcotics were hers,” a responding deputy stated in the report.

Dickman was booked into the Thurston County Corrections Facility on suspicion of second-degree robbery. Vantiem was booked on charges of second-degree robbery and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

A great job, a quick response by TCSO to catch the thieves at night, shortly after they left the store's parking lot!

I hope the deputy who was bitten gets a rabies shot and a good dose of antibiotics.

The thieves steal items but I guarantee you they had money for the drugs as well as phones, etc.
