A Home Depot employee in Tumwater was arrested after store management discovered he had been stealing cash over a period of several weeks.

According to the Tumwater Police Department, responding officers were called to the Home Depot on Kingswood Drive SW around 3 p.m. on Friday, May 16.

Store officials said that an internal investigation revealed an employee, identified as Henry Davidson, had taken nearly $900 in cash from the registers.

During an interview, the 20-year old suspect admitted to taking the money, stating he began stealing on April 20 and continued on multiple occasions.

The employee told police he took the money due to financial difficulties within his family.

“Henry (the suspect) told me he expected to be caught, and thought it was better he be caught than have his family remain in their situation,” a TPD responding officer reported.

The suspect informed authorities he still had stolen money in his car, and $120 was recovered, which was returned to the store.

Davidson was arrested at the scene and booked into Thurston County jail for second-degree theft.
