Intercity Transit seeking 4 members for Community Advisory Committee

Members of the public, who want to help shape local public transit, are encouraged to apply for a seat on the Intercity Transit Community Advisory Committee.

The transit agency is seeking four new members for its 20-person committee, which advises on service changes, strategic planning and transit facilities.

If selected for the group, members would have to meet every third Monday of the month, virtually or in person, at Intercity Transit's Customer Service Center.

Members serve three-year terms, while a seat dedicated to a youth member carries a one-year term.

The agency hopes to select individuals who reflect the local community, including riders of various ages, cyclists, environmentalists, as well as representatives from local businesses, nonprofits, neighborhood associations and the medical community.

General Manager Emily Bergkamp said in a recent update that the transit agency received 14 applications on the first day the window opened to apply.

Candidates are expected to be interviewed on Nov. 7 with the appointment process finalized at a Intercity Transit Authority meeting on Dec. 3.

People who are interested in a committee seat may apply online here through Oct. 3.
