Intercity Transit seeks public comment on transit projects for 2025-28

Posted

Intercity Transit is calling on the public to comment on transit projects outlined in the annual update of its Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for 2025-28, which is a federal requirement to enable the agency to tap into funding opportunities.

The public comment period runs from April 17 through May 15, culminating in a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m.

The hearing will occur at Intercity Transit's administrative office at 510 Pattison Street SE in Olympia.

Attendees can also participate via telephone or Teams video conference.

For those unable to attend the hearing, comments can be submitted by 12 p.m. on May 15 through various channels, including mail, email, or by phone.

Detailed instructions for providing comments are available on the Intercity Transit’s website.

The draft TIP outlines the agency’s comprehensive program of potential federally funded projects for 2025-2028, which includes programs coordinated with the Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) and the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC).

Before funding becomes available, federally funded projects must undergo review by TRPC and PSRC, especially those anticipating PSRC Earned Share formula funds.

Additionally, inclusion in the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is necessary for federally funded projects.

The draft 2025-2028 TIP is accessible on Intercity Transit’s website, or by contacting the Grants Program Manager at 360-705-5808 or via email.
