A nurse at Providence St. Peter Hospital (SPH) in Olympia was allegedly assaulted on May 23, while attempting to treat a patient brought in for alcohol intoxication, according to an Olympia Police Department report.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the hospital’s emergency department where the nurse attended to the suspect. The nurse reported the patient, identified as Chavah Sarver, became physically aggressive, allegedly kicking the nurse multiple times. Security footage later reviewed by the responding officers confirmed the victim’s statement.

A report states that prior to the hospital visit, the 19-year old suspect had been contacted earlier in the evening at her workplace, a Dairy Queen on Lilly Road SE.

She asked to go home for not feeling well, but collapsed in the parking lot. Olympia Fire Department (OFD) and law enforcement responded to the location to assist her.

At that time, OFD evaluated Chavah and determined she was heavily intoxicated and needed to detox at SPH, which is where she was then transported,” the OPD reported.

When responding officers attempted to question the suspect about the incident, she reportedly responded with profanities and refused to cooperate.

In a wheelchair on the way to the patrol car, the suspect attempted to bite and kick the responding officers, and later kicked a hospital security personnel.

While wheeling Chavah through the hallway toward the exit, she turned her head, leaned to her right and attempted to bite my right hand as I pushed the chair, forcing me to move my hand so I didn't get bit by Chavah,” one of the responding officers reported.

Due to continued aggressive behavior, officers used a restraint device before transporting the suspect to Thurston County Corrections Facility. She faces three counts of third-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault.
