The Lacey City Council proclaimed May 2025 as Bicycle Month, urging residents to consider active transportation and recreation during the city’s participation in the 38th annual Bicycle Community Challenge (BCC).

Deputy Mayor Malcolm Miller led the proclamation on Tuesday, May 6, noting the environmental and health benefits of bicycling and the city’s commitment to expanding pedestrian and bike-friendly infrastructure.

“This year’s theme is ‘Be a Beacon for Bicycling,’” Green said. “We have lots of great prizes and amazing community support.”

The BCC runs throughout May and includes events, such as "Bike to Work or Anywhere Day" on May 15.

Green also highlighted Intercity Transit’s Walk and Roll program, which provides education and bike resources to children and adults.
