What began as an investigation into a vehicle prowl ended with the arrest of a man on drug charges after a traffic stop.
On Monday, July 28, members of the Lacey Police Department and Special Investigations Response Team were conducting surveillance on Tyrone Delance Jefferson, 47, of Olympia, in connection with a theft and vehicle prowl case allegedly committed in May, the police department said in a report.
Law enforcement spotted Jefferson driving a white Dodge Ram pickup and followed him to the Surrey Lane Apartments at 2810 Ruddell Road SE in Lacey. When patrol officers attempted a traffic stop, the suspect drove away and reportedly drove to the end of the complex before being detained.
A narcotics detection K-9 dog later picked up the presence of drugs inside the vehicle, prompting law enforcement personnel to obtain a search warrant.
Inside, authorities said they found more than 528 grams of fentanyl pills, approximately 166 grams of methamphetamine, a scale with residue, $3,495 in cash, and notebooks believed to contain drug transaction records.
“I observed a small black notebook on the front passenger floorboard. In the notebook, there were names with numbers next to them. Based on my training and experience, I recognized the names and numbers to possibly be transactions for narcotic sales,” a Lacey Police Department officer stated in the report.
The suspect denied involvement in the theft and vehicle prowl incident despite the similarities on the male in the surveillance footage.
"That looks like me, but that is not me," said Jefferson during the interrogation.
He was was booked into the Thurston County Corrections Facility for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The theft and vehicle prowl case remains under investigation.

How is Lacey PD understaffed? Their Biennial report from last year says they are fully staffed. I rarely leave the house without seeing at least one cruiser. Not to mention due to Lacey's odd shape there's always a fair number of Staties and Deputies around.

Glad these life-destroying pills have been taken off the board. Wish all of these pills worldwide would self-destruct instead of further poisoning people.
