Lacey has a new place to tell its story.
The City of Lacey is now calling the public to be part of the milestone, as the Lacey Museum and Cultural Center prepares to celebrate the grand opening of its relocated mid-town home.
On Saturday, June 13, the public can stop by 4160 6th Ave. SE, Suite 101, anytime from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for a free day of activities:
The event also features the debut of "The Third Thirty: Honoring the Voices of Our Elders," a new exhibit from Window Seat Media, the Olympia nonprofit recently named the 2026 Ken Balsley Lacey Historian of the Year. Compiled from oral histories documented between 2017 and 2022, the exhibit presents the stories, wisdom and lived experiences of community elders.
Tour guides will be available throughout the day to share stories about Lacey's past and the people who shaped it.
Museum Curator Erin Quinn Valcho said the new location gives the public a venue for engaging with the city's history and cultural heritage.
"The Lacey Museum is a place where community stories come to life," Valcho said. "We are excited to welcome the public into this new space and celebrate the history, people, and experiences that have shaped Lacey."
The museum will also debut its retail store at the event. Visitors can pick up Lacey-themed merchandise, keepsakes and commemorative items inspired by the city's history.
Parking is available behind the 4160 6th Ave. building, in the lot north of the museum near McDonald's, at the Arby's lot just west of the museum, and at the Office Depot lot across the street.
