Lacey Museum has two new acquisitions from our local past

Posted

The Lacey Historical Commission officially approved yesterday, October 19, two new donations to its museum collection.

Lacey Museum Curator Erin Quinn Valcho reported that the two new acquisitions came from Friends of the Lacey Timberland Library (FOLL) and resident Edward Echtle.

FOLL donated a notebook containing three years of its organizational records. Valcho said the museum currently holds FOLL archives, and the notebook will be added to that collection.

Valcho said Echtle donated North Thurston High School Yearbooks from 1958 to 1961 when his wife attended the school.

Lacey Historical Commissioners considered the museum’s mission, its acquisitions policy, and the usefulness of the items for display and research before approving said donations.

According to the Lacey Municipal Code 2.4.050, the Historical Commission, along with the Museum Curator, “has the supervision of accepting gifts of property for historical purposes.”
