The Lacey Police Department has been recognized as the Lacey South Sound Chamber of Commerce's February 2026 Business of the Month for its support of local businesses and community events.

City Manager Rick Walk praised the department in a statement issued on Thursday, Feb. 12. He said the department exemplifies a spirit of service to others.

"Their work goes beyond public safety; it's about showing up for local businesses, supporting neighborhood celebrations, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and secure," Walk said.

He said the most impactful organizations are built on people and their dedication to others. He also emphasized the value of collaboration between city agencies and local organizations.

"This recognition is a reminder that when we invest in people and partnerships, we build a stronger Lacey together," Walk said.

The department celebrated the honor in a social media post.

"We are humbled and honored to be recognized for our support of local businesses and our community events," the department said. "We've said it before, and we'll say it again: Best Community Ever!"

The Lacey South Sound Chamber of Commerce, established in 1961, represents more than 350 local businesses in the region.

The nonprofit organization supports members through networking, events, advertising and community partnerships. It advocates for business interests in community affairs and promotes economic growth in Thurston County.
