Lacey Police Department welcomes new sergeant and lieutenant

Posted

Two Lacey Police Department officers were promoted and sworn in last week.

City Manager Rick Walk announced the promotions in a statement on Thursday, March 5.

Sgt. Jimmy Williams and Lt. Napoleon Parker received their new ranks at swearing-in ceremonies. The department also confirmed in a social media post on March 2.

Williams started his law enforcement career in the mid-1990s. Over his tenure, he has worked with youth programs, in patrol and supported investigations.

Walk said Williams has built a career rooted in community work and departmental service.

"He has served in a wide variety of roles that connect directly to our community, from working with youth to supporting investigations and leading in patrol," Walk said.

"Sergeant Williams often shares that his proudest accomplishments are at home, where the support of his family has sustained him throughout his career."

Parker, meanwhile, took on the lieutenant role after nearly two decades at the department. He held specialized assignments, took on training duties and filled leadership positions that strengthened both operations and mentorship within the department.

A combat veteran and retired member of the U.S. Army National Guard, Parker has continued pursuing higher education while serving with the department.

Walk said Parker's nearly two decades at the department point to an unwavering commitment to the City of Lacey, adding Parker credits his family as a driving force behind his career.

Walk then framed the ceremonies as a marker of the department's culture of mentorship and professionalism. The real measure of such moments, he said, lies with the officers who grow in their roles, stand behind one another and remain committed to the people they serve.

"Congratulations to Sergeant Williams and Lieutenant Parker," Walk said. "Thank you for your leadership and for continuing to show that our greatest strength as a city is, and always will be, our people."

The Lacey Police Department also recognized the promotions in a separate statement.

"Your hard work and dedication to our community is appreciated and we look forward to what the future holds," the department said.
