The Lacey Timberland Library is going to temporarily suspend on-site services to the public because of renovation work from Nov. 24 through Dec. 9.
According to a Timberland Regional Library notice issued on Nov. 13, bathroom, foyer and flooring work is scheduled.
Patrons who depend on the Lacey branch can turn to in-person services at nearby libraries in Hawks Prairie, Tumwater or Olympia during the closure.
“This project will refresh and improve the library’s restroom facilities to better serve the community. During this time, the building will be closed to the public, and library services will be unavailable at this location,” the notice stated.
Timberland Regional Library serves Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific and Thurston counties via 29 libraries, mobile services and digital platforms.
To ensure patrons can still access resources and services, the library’s full online platform can be reached at TRL.org.

Why must Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater provide their own library buildings, while the regional library system provides library buildings for other areas?
