Posted

The National Weather Service (NWS) has put out an announcement warning of possible landslides in Western Washington.

According to NWS in its advisory, rain during the previous days has put pressure on soil instability, which increases the risk of landslides, especially in the areas of:

  • San Juan County
  • Western Whatcom County
  • Southwest Interior
  • Western Skagit County
  • Everett and Vicinity
  • Tacoma Area
  • Admiralty Inlet Area
  • Hood Canal Area
  • Lower Chehalis Valley Area
  • Eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca
  • Western Strait of Juan De Fuca
  • North Coast
  • Central Coast
  • East Puget Sound Lowlands
  • Bellevue and Vicinity
  • Seattle and Vicinity
  • Bremerton and Vicinity

“The break in the steady rain will reduce the threat Thursday,” NWS said.

Concerned community members may visit the Washington State Department of Natural Resources landslide geologic hazards page for more information on landslides.
