Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) issued a warning on Friday, Jan. 3, following a federal recall of Yaomiao children’s jewelry sets.
The PHSS cautioned families to “stop using recalled rings immediately,” noting the jewelry poses a risk of lead and cadmium poisoning, especially for young children.
The recall covers about 6,900 units of jewelry sold exclusively on Amazon by LordRoads, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said.
The jewelry sets include silver-colored pieces with multicolored gems shaped as unicorns, butterflies, hearts, turtles, stars or rainbows, sold in lavender gift boxes marked "A Special Gift for the Charming You."
The jewelry, which was available on Amazon between January 2022 and March 2024, was priced from $8 to $21 per set.
The products violate “the federal lead content ban” and “the Federal Hazardous Substances Act,” according to the recall number 25-082 notice.
The CPSC warned that lead and cadmium are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Customers will be asked to dispose of the recalled jewelry sets and “send a photo of the disposed sets” to the company for reimbursement.
“No injuries have been reported,” the notice stated.
Further details are available at the CPSC website.
