Participants for the class should be ages 16 and up. Class content and performance material will stay in the PG-13 range.

“This class is designed for a wide range of participants, from non-comedy writers who want to learn the fundamentals of joke writing to experienced comedy writers looking to sharpen their skills, pick up new techniques, and refine their material,” said Kahn in an email to The JOLT.

Kahn said participants should come ready to laugh, have fun and write; bringing a pen and paper, or a laptop is recommended, but not required.

The event will be held at the TC Media Studio, 440 Yauger Way SW, in Olympia on Saturday, May 2, from noon to  4 p.m. Enrollment in the workshop costs $125.
