This district is entirely within Thurston County. In recent years the senator and both representatives have been members of the Democratic party.
State Senator
Incumbent Sen. Sam Hunt was opposed by both a Democrat and a Republican. Hunt received 15,174 votes (58.74% of the total) as of 10:20 pm on Election Night. Republican Garry Holland received 7,923 votes (30.67%) and will face off against Hunt on November 3.
State Representative Position 1
Incumbent Laurie Dolan faced three challengers: one each Republican, Libertarian and Socialist. Dolan received 16,151 votes as of 10:20 Tuesday night (62.67%) and will be opposed in November by Republican J. D. Ingram who received 7,458 votes (28.94%).
State Representative Position 2
Incumbent Beth Doglio is running for election to the U.S. House of Representatives, leaving this seat open.
As reported in depth in The JOLT, the race attracted four Democrats and one Republican.
As of 10:20 pm Tuesday, the top two vote getters were Olympia City Council member Jessica Bateman and former Lacey Police Chief Dusty Pierpoint. Each received just over 9,000 votes, just a squeak over 35% of the total votes counted.
