Legion Way and Adams Street intersection closed due to street work

A sewer and stormwater project has shuttered an intersection in downtown Olympia through Friday, Aug. 15.

The intersection at Legion Way and Adams Street NE is closed to thru traffic, including bike lanes and the south and west side crosswalks, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the City of Olympia said in a construction and traffic alert.

"During this closure, (city) crews will install a new maintenance hole to access sewer and storm water piping at this intersection. The roadway will be reopened for nighttime travel with steel plates placed over the hole," the alert states.

"Motorists and cyclists are urged to use caution and obey posted speeds when traveling through the work zone during nighttime hours."
 
Detours will be posted in the area. Bicyclists, motorists and pedestrians are advised to find alternate routes.
