The glitz and glamour of the Jazz Age awaits attendees of the Murder Mystery BIG Auction fundraising gala on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The event, which is hosted by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington, will be held at South Puget Sound Community College (Building 27). Doors open at 5 p.m.

The event will provide appetizers, live and silent auctions, a paddle raise, and a fully staged 1920s-themed murder mystery performance by professional actors.

The organizing team indicated that this year’s fundraising goal is $200,000. The money raised goes toward local mentoring programs and support expansion into neighboring Grays Harbor, Mason, Pacific and Lewis counties.

The funds will be used to aid every young individual waiting for a mentor, also known as a “Little,” who is matched up with a caring adult mentor, or “Big,” who can help guide them to reach their full potential.

“Our efforts this year are focused on strengthening the incredible programming we already have and expanding our reach into Grays Harbor, Mason, Pacific and Lewis (counties),” said Keith Ann Campbell, Executive Director of BBBS-SWWA, in an announcement about the event.

The event schedule is as follows:

  • Cocktail hour (5-6 p.m.): Guest check-in, appetizers, signature cocktails, silent auction, raffles and centerpiece bidding.
  • Fundraising program (6-7:30 p.m.): Welcome remarks, dessert dash, live auction, silent auction and Raise the Paddle appeal.
  • Murder Mystery Show (7:30-9 p.m.): A fully staged 1920's murder mystery, performed by professional actors, with integrated fundraising.
