Pacific Northwest Theater (PNT)is offering summer camps for kids ages 5 to 18 culminating in three productions to be performed over the weekends from July 15 to 30.

Starting June 27 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, PNT’s summer camps will have children from different age groups taking part in the following plays:

  • Annie KIDS - ages 5-8
  • Matilda the Musical Jr. - ages 9-12
  • Big Fish - ages 13-18

“Theater at this age is just such a great, safe way for young kids to express themselves, interact with other kids, and learn what it’s like to perform in front of their families,” said PNT founder and artistic director Steven Wells.

Camp participants will present their plays on Fridays and Saturdays of July with the following schedules:

  • Annie KIDS - Performances July 15 & 16
  • Matilda Jr. - Performances July 22 & 23
  • Big Fish - Performances July 29 & 30

Founded by Wells and his wife Lauren, Pacific Northwest Theater is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit teaching theatre. Steven Wells is a longtime actor and director who has worked locally with Olympia Family Theater, Capital Playhouse, and Tacoma Musical Playhouse and studied musical theater at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Lauren Wells is an expert technical director and the resident costume designer for PNT and Saint Martin’s University who has performed locally with Capital Playhouse, Olympia Choral Society, and Olympia Family Theatre.

As of press time, Matilda the Musical Jr. and Big Fish are full, but interested kids and parents can still register and join the Annie KIDS camp. Registration costs $300 with a $50 non-refundable deposit.
