An inmate named  Ericka Danielle Love at the Olympia City Jail was charged after she allegedly assaulted a corrections officer in a bid to get transferred to the Thurston County Jail.

A Feb. 1 document from the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney indicated that Love, 22, was charged with custodial assault.

According to Olympia police, Love was arrested on Jan. 29 after a reported assault at the Olympia City Jail.

A corrections officer told police that Love asked him if she would be transferred to the Thurston County Jail if she assaulted him.

The officer said he initially didn’t respond, prompting Love to ask her question again, at which point he said that she would be charged with a felony crime if she attacks a corrections officer or nurse.

As he was escorting Love back to her holding cell, the corrections officer said, Love turned around to ask him, “Where are we going to do this?” and balled her fists.

The officer said he believed that Love was going to assault him. He gained control of the inmate’s wrist and pinned her against the wall.

Another corrections officer arrived to help control Love, according to the police report. This second officer said Love lifted her right leg and kicked backward, hitting his right knee and causing sharp pain.

The inmate was then taken to her cell without further incident.

Love was arrested for third-degree assault and transported to the Thurston County Jail.
